PETER M. KEENAN

Mr. Keenan has been continuously licensed to practice law since 1970. He is a general practitioner with a well-developed knowledge of criminal law and procedure. Mr. Keenan’s practice concentrates in the areas of family law, criminal law, civil litigation and municipal law.
Mr. Keenan began his career as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Oakland County, Michigan. He served as a circuit court felony trial attorney, prosecuting major felony cases including homicides. Mr. Keenan directed the consumer protection unit, litigating white collar crimes. Entering private practice, Mr. Keenan has acquired an extensive domestic relations litigation docket and has served as a court-appointed divorce mediator. Mr. Keenan continues to provide criminal defense in district and circuit court matters. He is well versed in all aspects of driver license appeals and restoration, appearing in numerous circuit court and Secretary of State administrative hearings. Mr. Keenan has extensive experience in municipal law. He has represented Highland Township the Huron Valley School District in Oakland County. He currently represents the Charter Township of Brandon and the Charter Township of Independence as ordinance enforcement attorney. Mr. Keenan is a member of the master lawyer section of the State Bar of Michigan, and is a past vice-president of the Clarkston-Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Keenan received his Juris Doctor with honors from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas in 1970 and received a Bachelor of Arts from Wabash College in 1967. |
